What is Lightning Blackjack?

Lightning Blackjack Live is a live casino game from Evolution. The game has almost the same characteristics as classic online Blackjack at non GamStop casinos, but with an added bonus: you can win multipliers to increase your winnings by up to 25 times your bet. Just like the classic version, the goal of Lightning Blackjack is to beat the dealer (the “bank”) without exceeding 21.

The special thing about Lightning Blackjack is that your winnings aren’t simply doubled when you win a hand. This version features multipliers in the form of lightning bolts. When they flash, you can win 2 to 25 times your stake. The payout percentage, theoretically at least, is a staggering 99.56%.

How to play Lightning Blackjack?

The rules of Lightning Blackjack are almost identical to those of classic Blackjack: your only opponent is the dealer. You and the dealer each receive two cards from eight decks. The goal is to outscore the dealer without exceeding 21. The best hand is Blackjack.

To get a Blackjack, the sum of your first two cards must be exactly 21. If you beat the dealer, you get your original bet plus your winnings back (1:1). If you win with a Blackjack, you receive a higher than normal payout (1:1.5 for Blackjack, 3:2 for Lightning Blackjack). You can make four choices after receiving your cards:

1. Hit (buy)

2. Stand (fit)

3. Double (double)

4. Split (split)

You have 18 seconds to decide. On the right side of your screen, you can see how many other players still have to decide, and how the countdown counts down to 0. Then it’s time to see if you’ve won.

Specific rules for Lightning Blackjack

This game has some specific rules you should know when playing Lightning Blackjack:

• The dealer stands on a soft hand of 17 (Ace plus 6)

• Only if there is a visible Ace, the dealer may check the hole card for Blackjack

• Blackjack pays 3:2

• You may double with any of your first two cards

• You can only split once

• Split Aces are dealt one card each

• Doubling after splitting is not allowed

• Giving up is not allowed

• No side bets

You can earn multipliers in Lightning Blackjack, but unlike Lightning Roulette and Lightning Baccarat, these are only added in the next round. As soon as you place a bet with one of the chips (1, 2, 5, 25, 100, 500, or x2), the multipliers appear on either side of the dealer. They can change each round because they are added by the Random Number Generator (RNG). If you win, the multiplier shoots across the table like a bolt of lightning, directly to your bet. If you lose, you lose everything.

Multiplier features

• You have to pay a ‘Lightning Fee’ (a kind of surcharge) of 100% on your stake, on which you do not make any profit

• If you win, you always earn a multiplier for your next hand

• The multipliers are random and depend on the winning hand’s point total

• If you split and win at least one hand, you will receive a multiplier

• If you split and win both hands, the higher winning point number is used to award a multiplier for your next hand

• If you double down on an earned multiplier, it will apply to the entire win

• If you split with an earned multiplier, it applies to both new hands

Lightning Fee

With every bet, you have to pay a Lightning Fee, or surcharge, of 100%. So if you bet €12, you’ll end up paying €24; that’s a bit of a shock. Then you try to beat the dealer. Depending on the number of points you win with, you earn a multiplier for your next hand. However, this multiplier applies to the Lightning Fee you paid in your current round, so €12. As you can see in the image below, the multiplier is 2x for a winning point total of 4 to 17, and increases to 25x for a Blackjack.

Win Lightning Blackjack

You win if your point total is closer to or exactly 21 compared to the dealer’s. So you’ve won your hand, but to benefit from your multiplier, you must also win the next hand. Again:

• Your stake in the 1st round is €12 + €12 surcharge = €24

• You win with a total of 20 points from the dealer

• You will receive a 10x multiplier for the next round

• For example, in the 2nd round your stake is €10 + €10 surcharge = €20

• You win with a total of 19 points from the dealer

• You will receive your previous multiplier of 10x your previous bonus of €12 = €120 + your stake of €10 = €130

• In this example you already have an 8x multiplier for your next round

Betting and Payout in Lightning Blackjack
